Introducing Dr. David Hernandez
Sixth Chair, Board of Directors, the Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies

Dear CCJS Friends,

Justice and understanding are fundamental values of the Rule of Saint Benedict upon which my undergraduate alma mater was founded. The Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies exists to redress injustice and foster understanding. That’s why I became involved and why I am proud to lead this extraordinary cooperative venture of Saint Leo University and the American Jewish Committee. We have already accomplished a great deal in fostering greater understanding of our respective faiths and living out the profound principles articulated in the Second Vatican Council's declaration, Nostra Aetate. I feel fortunate to be called to lead the CCJS Board during the 45th anniversary year of the document which commands those of my Catholic faith to begin anew our relationship with the people Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict rightly call our spiritual ancestors.

Chair, CCJS Board of Directors
