| Happy Hanukkah & Merry Christmas! |
December 1, 2007 |
|
Dear e-Subscribers,
As we begin to close out 2007, all of us at the Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies want to wish our subscribers and Friends of the Center a very happy Hanukkah and a Merry Christmas. The momentum of education and dialogue in interfaith studies here at the Center has been strong and growing during the year and leading into 2008.
We are looking forward to further expansion of the Walking God's Paths (WGP) program across west central Florida, a growing relationship with our community partners, the planning of lectures, introduction of literature dialogues and more. Of particular note for 2008 are the continuing WGP efforts in Tampa where we will be expanding the reach of future sessions, the co-sponsorship with the Florida Holocaust Museum of a March 4th discussion on Pope John Paul II and his legacy of Catholic-Jewish relations, promotion of the A Blessing to One Another exhibit at the museum (see more below) and the Center's Ninth Annual Eternal Light Award Dinner at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club on March 9th. Also planned is a special museum evening for our award dinner guests on March 27th.
A busy and exciting year ahead!

| Walking God's Paths & Center Exhibit at the Library
Brent Short, Director of Library Services and Carol Moon, Reference Librarian and Assistant Professor at the Cannon Memorial Library were instrumental in supporting the November 5th event titled Walking God's Paths: Common Texts, Different Scriptures that was attended by more than 35 students, faculty and Center friends. Shown in the above photo (L to Rt) are Dr. Rich Bryan, Dean, School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Michael Tkacik, Linda Taggart, and Rabbi Frank Sundheim.
A Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies Exhibit highlighting the ten year history of the Center was organized at the library by Jane Bracken, the Center's Administrative Assistant. The exhibit contains photos, items of interest and a DVD presentation. Thank you Jane for a super job!
We also want to thank Brent and Carol for their leadership in bringing both of these Center programs to the Library and for their continuing support of interfaith education and dialogue.
