Saint Leo University
held its grand opening of its new Atlanta Center in
Gwinnett County, GA on May 31st. The Center for Catholic-Jewish
Studies and the Atlanta Chapter - American Jewish
Committee were represented at the ceremony. Judy Marx,
Executive Director, Atlanta Chapter -AJC and Tom Buckridge,
Interim Director of the Center for Catholic-Jewish
Studies joined University President Arthur F. Kirk
Jr. and other dignitaries and guests in opening the
first St. Leo facility in Atlanta focused on civilian
students. The University since 1975 has had a presence
at Fort McPhearson, a U.S. Army base southwest of
Atlanta but this new facility is the first such venture
to attract a growing civilian population in an area
of the South that is rapidly expanding. We anticipate
looking at ways in which Catholic-Jewish education
and dialogue may be brought to such educational centers
as we continue to grow in our reach.
